248069 395696243801338 616852592 nAccording to one of the victims from Maungdaw, local Arakanese victims are still in trouble and much more worried about their safety since the unrest involving the Bengali Muslim violence in Maungdaw on June 8:
"Actually we can say that the situation is normal now. But we're very much worried about our safety, as the Bengali Muslims who fled to Bangladesh and the extremist Muslims from Bangladesh may cooperate with [each other] and come into Arakan in different ways to fight against us", said Ko Naing Naing Aung from Maungdaw. He continued to say: "We can't go to the market until now. So Mroma Market, the main market of Maungdaw is not crowded as before. Neither are the Kayindan Market of Bengali Muslims and Mainzat Landson Market. We've found the people who are selling things are Bengali Muslims. Most of the owners of shopping stalls are Bengali Muslims. So the people are now worrying about their security that the extremist Bengali Muslims might attack to local Arakanese again. More than 10,000 victims in 6 refugee camps from different areas of Maungdaw Township are surviving with the support from different donors. We've found that many victims go to the clinic everyday due to their illness, as thousands of people from the temporary refugee camps are facing much difficulty in lack of pure drinking water and accommodation."
According to U Maung Htwan Aye from Maungdaw, the people from Maungdaw Township are safe now due to the security forces consisting of army personnel, policemen, security, and riot police, but they are very much concerned with their safety after all the security forces leave or are withdrawn from Maungdaw.
Local Arakanese assumed that the violence might spread to other areas, particularly to Buthidaung and Maungdaw townships, as the situation in Rathaydaung Township remains unstable since the unrest and murder of local Arakanese.
The AP News Agency reported that based on the statistics of World Food Programme (WFP), there are over 90,000 victims who are facing much difficulty in terms of food and accommodation, due to the current unrest in Arakan State.
Domestic and external watch-groups have pointed out that there has been an increase in victims due to the unrest in Arakan State, and so the current U Thein Sein's Government is fully responsible for calming the situation in order not to spread the violence in both urban and rural areas of Arakan State.
According to one of the border security force members, the security of Maungdaw Township has been achieved systematically by the concerned Brigadier General. The troops of the army stationed at Maungdaw Township are inspecting and keeping an eye on the danger of possible attacks against local people.
The victims of unrest in Maungdaw Township are accommodated and housed in Laymai Police Column (2), Quarter (3), Social Welfare School, Baho School and Alodawpyi Buddhist Monastery in Maungdaw.
Local sources confirmed that there are currently more than 80 temporary refugee camps in Arakan State. When asked from the Arakan Times about the refugee camps for Bengali Muslims, the local residents of Maungdaw said they don't know about the camps for Bengali Muslims and don't have any information.  ARAKAN TIME
